Who provides The Role
The Role is provided by SWEET CONCEPT LTD, registered in England and Wales, company number 15248049, with its registered office at 98 Station Road, Stanley, England, DH9 0JX. In these terms, “we” means Sweet Concept Ltd and “you” means the person using The Role. Contact support@therole.app for help, complaints, privacy requests or reports. Daniel Spencer handles these requests.
The service and eligibility
The Role helps actors record casting work, reflect on their progress and prepare a professional profile. It is intended for people aged 13 or over. You can use the journal on your device without an account. Optional online features depend on availability in your version and on the checks explained when you use them.
Actors aged 13–17 can use the journal, edit their profile and use available backup; publication and Connections require qualifying adult eligibility. A public profile link can be viewed without an account. The first-run 13+ declaration is separate from the adult-sharing check. If you are under 18, ask a trusted adult to help with anything in these terms you do not understand.
We provide a record and preparation tool. We do not make casting or employment decisions, act as your agent or guarantee an audition, representation or booking. Reflection prompts and personal summaries are not medical or mental-health advice.
There is no paid subscription or in-app purchase in this version. If paid features are introduced, their prices and applicable terms will be shown before you choose them.
Accounts and adult sharing
An account is for your own use. Keep access to your email and device secure and contact us if you suspect someone else is using your account. After you choose available backup and give the required consent, it may start after sign-in while online; review the account explanation before proceeding. Signing out does not delete your account or local records.
Publication and Connections require the supported Apple adult-range result, confirmed source and account-bound integrity check. Missing, declined, under-18, unconfirmed and unsupported results cannot qualify. Eligibility expires and needs rechecking. Do not falsify a result, use someone else’s account or device to evade the rule, or attempt to bypass the check. You can ask us to investigate a problem, but we cannot provide a manual exception to adult eligibility.
Your journal, profile and content
You retain the rights you have in the content you add. Your journal entries, notes, reflections and emotions are excluded from shared profiles and booking updates. Adding information or a photo to your profile does not itself publish it. Visitor Preview is a local preview.
You must have the rights or permission needed for photos, recordings, credits and other material you add. Respect casting confidentiality and other people’s privacy. Avoid putting another person’s sensitive information in account backup. Do not misrepresent your identity, representation or professional credits.
You give us and our providers the limited permission to store, process and transmit content needed to provide the online features you choose and protect the service. If you qualify and choose to share a profile, this includes displaying the selected content to the audience you chose. This permission does not transfer ownership or permit us to use your journal for advertising or sell it. Data-protection consent and rights are explained separately in our privacy notice.
A published profile can update when later edits to visible details sync. Selected gallery settings can make new photos visible on an already published profile. Pause publication or change sharing settings before adding material you do not want others to see. Public recipients can keep copies, and existing short-lived media links may remain usable until expiry after access is paused.
Acceptable use and safety
Do not use The Role for unlawful, exploitative, threatening, harassing, discriminatory or privacy-invading content or conduct. Do not impersonate someone, infringe intellectual-property rights, upload malicious material, interfere with security, scrape or misuse account data, or access information without permission.
Public and connected content must not contain pornography, sexual exploitation or abuse, or material encouraging, promoting or instructing suicide, self-harm or eating disorders. Keeping an ordinary journal reflection about difficult feelings is separate from publishing material that encourages harm.
Use the available report/block controls for a profile or connection, or email support@therole.app. For a public profile, include its link and the concern. Do not send another person’s journal or unnecessary identity documents. Reports are assessed against the facts; a complaint alone does not prove wrongdoing.
We can remove shared content, pause publication or restrict sharing where reasonably necessary to protect people, address a serious breach or comply with the law. Where appropriate, we explain the reason and give a route to ask for review. Urgent safety/legal action may come first. A restored account must deliberately re-enable sharing; restoration does not automatically republish or reconnect it. Journal access and account deletion remain separate from sharing restrictions.
Export, deletion and device care
Export my data creates a JSON copy of supported local records, including recently deleted markers, but excludes original photo/audio files and account secrets. Take care where you save it. Keep a separate copy of important original media.
Entry deletion initially hides the entry in Recently deleted. Hosted deleted journal entries are subject to the 30-day recovery period and scheduled purge described in the privacy notice. Device-only and offline copies have no automatic expiry. Account deletion removes the hosted account and associated application records/media and then clears this device’s account copy. Other devices, operating-system backups and your own exports are separate.
You can request account deletion through the app or by emailing support@therole.app. We check ownership before an external request is actioned. Device loss, app removal or deletion can remove information that was never successfully backed up or exported. Backup is limited to supported records/files and does not guarantee recovery of every local file.
External services and licence
Links, YouTube media, calendar actions and Save or Share destinations may use other services with their own terms and privacy practices. The app’s software, design and branding are owned by or licensed to us or the relevant rights holders. You may use the app for your own journal and professional profile; these terms do not transfer ownership of the app or another person’s material to you.
For an App Store download, Apple’s standard end-user licence applies unless a different applicable licence is provided. These service terms do not replace Apple’s licence or remove rights it gives you.
Availability, changes and ending use
We take reasonable care in providing The Role. Maintenance, failures or security issues may interrupt features. We may change features or these terms for a valid product, security or legal reason. We give appropriate notice of material changes affecting your use where required and do not use changes to remove accrued consumer rights.
You can stop using The Role at any time, export supported records and delete your account. We may restrict an account only for a proportionate reason, including serious misuse, safety or a legal duty. Contact us if you believe a restriction is mistaken. If we discontinue an online service, we give reasonable notice and an opportunity to export information where practicable, subject to urgent safety/legal constraints.
Legal rights and resolving a problem
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else the law does not allow us to exclude. Nothing removes mandatory consumer rights or remedies. We do not guarantee casting outcomes or the actions of other users or external services.
Contact support@therole.app so we can investigate a problem. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a UK consumer, this does not remove mandatory protections or the right to bring proceedings in the courts available to you where you live, including Scotland or Northern Ireland.
